The computer should have a set of lights that come on ,the lights will show power to the Cdrom, Dvd, Hard drive and floppy drive if the computer has one.Then the BIOS will run the POST BIOS and 64bit .When the POST is complete, the information will be on the monitor and the operating system will load into memory.Once the OS has completed the basic load ,the OS will tell the CPU to switch to 32 or 64 bit mode depending on the processor,The vmm.exe will then call for the 32bit or 64 bit drivers to work with the OS.
